Customer Rating: Summary: Peanut Butter Comment: I bought the PB for a health fanatic friend of mine... we love it wish it were cheaper though!
Customer Rating: Summary: Try it for yourself Comment: I couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews this has been given. I thought it was very good! It does have a bit of a different taste, slightly like molasses, I thought; but the peanut flavor is there. It must be refrigerated after opening as there are no added preservatives. I have stayed away from PB for years because of the fat content and calories- now I can have it again! (And, no, I don't work for the company!) I find it to be very satisfying even without the extra calories and fat. So I would urge others to judge for themselves. If you need to limit your calorie and fat intake you just might want to give this a shot. I'm sure glad I did!
Customer Rating: Summary: Only product I ever wanted to return due to taste Comment: I purchased this product at Whole Foods, and it is the only product that I have ever wanted to return because of its taste. The first thing you notice when you dip your spoon in is the texture. It's not the thick, creamy, peanut butter texture that you are used to, it has a consistency somewhere between mousse, jelly, and paste. As unappealing as the texture was, I could overlook it if it actually tasted like peanut butter. But instead of noticing the peanuts, the first flavors I noticed were the exotic sweeteners and syrups that they use to give the product its consistency. After examining the ingredient list and nutritional information, it became clear to me why this "peanut butter" was so disappointing: they took out most of the peanuts! Peanuts do top the list of ingredients, but you will notice that it is followed by a long list of fillers that include water, rice syrup, and tapioca starch. Using fillers has also diminished one of the main benefits you get from peanut butter: the protein. True this product has 40% fewer calories than regular peanut butter, but it also has less than half of the normal protein.
I really tried to like this product, but every time I got the jar out of the refrigerator (yes, that's right, this "peanut butter" has to be refrigerated -- another sign that it shouldn't be confused with peanut butter) the first taste would cause me to put it back. If you are looking to reduce calories, just eat less of the real thing. If you eat this, you'll be settling for lower satisfaction and protein intake for the sake of 90 fewer calories per serving. Not worth it to me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful Peanut Butter! Comment: Finally, a peanut butter that is edible and healthy! Great for a low fat PBJ or a Satay Peanut sauce or... well, the possibilities are endless. The texture is just like regular peanut butter. There is no odd after taste. Highly recommended for a low fat sweet snack.
