Customer Rating:      Summary: Speakerphone from base unit is unacceptable Comment: My work habits depend upon a reliable speakerphone, as I need both hands for the computer or writing. This one was so poor that I have to use a headset, which is not as comfortable. Thompson said the will sent me a new one ion 3-5 weeks with a prepaid shipping label to return the original one, and I can only hope that the new one will work, as I am otherwise stuck with the five handsets that I bought with it. I double that I can use them with another manufacturer's base unit if the replacement base unit is still unsatisfactory. Also, they put a hold on my charge account pending the return of the defective unit.
Alsom the black letter menu and call ID information on the dark blue screen is if such poor contract that it is so difficult to read that I would rate in unacceptable. I wish they could have use a yellow or even a white or grey background. The contrast adjustment is so subtle as to be worthless.
The six programing buttons, along with the navigating and line buttons are labled in small gray print on a black background, so that by the time you are able to read them, the programing defaults back, so that you have to start all over.
The range for the five handsets throughout my apartment seems fine.
The storage of caller ID information and deletion of duplicates is clumsey and worthless. I could not tell whether I was deleting new IDs or ones I had previously tried to save.
There is no battery backup, so I am afraid that if I have to "reset" the phone by unplugging the power cord (which is the first thing that their tech support instructs) you lose your recorded message, time and date settings and any other saved data.
All in all, this is not a phone I would want to live/ work with. I wish I could rescind the entire purchase.
Customer Rating:      Summary: RCA WON'T REFUND FOR DEFECTIVE PHONE! Comment: I bought this phone despite warnings all over the internet not to. Wish I had listened to the reviews. The screen started loosing numbers and letters making caller ID unreadable. This started 4 months after I bought it. The support center for RCA is in the Philippines and they want me to run through diagnostics with them "to determine if the phone is truly defective" and if it is, send to them for replacement. I just want a refund. They won't give it. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

After hours on line to arrange a return, we discovered that they charge your card in advance for the replacement, and then take a month to send it. We travel too much to be sure we can return the old phone on time given the long delay on their part. If I want to return the broken unit in advance, I have to pay the shipping. I'll NEVER buy from these jokers again.

I am very disappointed in this phone and I'm very disappointed with the customer service. I am still waiting for a new phone to arrive almost 2 weeks now. I don't recommend
Customer Rating:      Summary: Don't buy RCA/Thompson products Comment: I purchased this product and it worked for about 6 months. After a lot of time with customer support, they agreed to replace my unit. They knew they had problems with this product, yet continued to sell it. I had to ship it to Thompson, Inc. in El Paso, TX at my expense ($19.00). Then I had to wait "21 business days". When I did not recieve my unit, I had to call them back and was told they were out of stock and they did not know when they would be getting anything in and they would refund me 1/3 of what I purchased for the unit. I am still waiting for my check. I would not recommend anyone purchasing any products from RCA as they do not stand behind their product nor their warranty. I would be surprised if I receive a check, but will count this as a lesson learned. Do not buy RCA products.
