Summary: Cool Phone, A Few Problems
Comment: I got this phone as a replacement under insurance for a Samsung AT&T Sync that met its demise in a glass of water. I was skeptical at first, but having lived with it for a month or so, here's what I have to say:

PROS: This is actually a pretty cool looking phone. The mirrored outside with the screen is sweet and the interior screen is bright and looks nice. This is the second Sony-Ericsson phone I've had and though the interface is a bit quirky, once you get used to it, you'll never want another phone. Reception seems to be on par with my old phone, camera looks good, and calls are clear and easy to hear. Generally, battery life is quite good.

CONS: This phone is great when it works, but unfortunately that's not all the time. The phone tends to freeze up (happened probably 6-7 times in the month I've had it) and usually you have to resort to taking out the battery to reset it. It seems to particularly not like being stuck in places with questionable reception. Battery life will occasionally suddenly jump down to almost nothing without warning, I think connected to the previous two things. Additionally, my phone has been not getting on 3G like it was and instead opting for H everywhere I go, but this might be network trouble. I refuse to pay AT&T $20 for the data plan so the internet is disabled on my phone anyway (as it was on my last one), since I used all of a few cents every month back before I had a 3G phone. I would opt for updating the firmware on the phone, but it looks like you need Sony's data-cable and a Windows machine...

Overall, I've really come to like this phone and it would be almost perfect if not for its occasional frustrations.

Summary: acceptable, but far from great
Comment: For being a supposedly new cel phone with exceptional features, that it is not. The coverage and use is acceptable, but the battery life is way too short, the time doesn't stay displayed on the outside and the sleek case is too slippery causing accidental drops. The colors are nice, but pretty limited. You should be able to get a much better phone for the money.

Summary: Great phone, but ATT ruined it...
Comment: This is a great phone. The interface is easy to use and highly functional, and very attractive as well. It is loaded with features, the media player is awesome, and the 2 mp camera takes very good pictures. I love this phone. The outside gets scratched easily, but it's not that big of a deal. A lot of people complain about battery life, and when I got this phone it was a problem. I would maybe get 1 or 2 days out of a charge--it was pathetic. This is because ATT has removed the ability to disable 3G. So, I debranded my phone using DaVinci Team. Now my battery lasts around 5 days on a charge with reasonable usage. Now that the battery life problem is fixed, this is a great phone. So if you: a) Live in an area with *excellent* 3G coverage or b) are comfortable with and willing to debrand your phone, then I would recommend this phone to you. If neither of those situations fits you, then I would not recommend this phone to you because you will not be pleased with the battery life. It really doesn't work to charge your phone every night.

Summary: Great phone if you could trun 3G off when not needed
Comment: Wonderful phone but on the ATT version they disabled the menu feature to disable the 3G when you don't need it. Apple allows it on the Iphone, It just kills the battery life from 9 to 3.5 hours.

Summary: What? Well, ok it looks ok.
Comment: I opted for this phone in the hopes that it would get even better battery life than my older sony-ericsson phone, which crapped out after 2 years of charging once a week or so. I have a phone mostly for the opportunity, not to saturate my life, so standby time is key.

I came here to complain about the bait and switch, and of course found the explanation for the z750's abominable battery life: 3G. If you haven't been paying attention for the past 5 years, 3G is the advanced data network that cellphone companies have been trying to push as the new wave, to supply you with streaming video etc to your phone. Just another premium feature some other dude should be paying for. And just to push it that much more, it seems like they've disabled the regular network access [see above].

So, this is a bad phone [at the least, on the east coast]. But another crucial feature is poorly designed: the clock/LCD on the outside. It's beneath a partially reflective film, so that it's inset, which makes it nearly impossible to read even when it's dark out.

Here's the lesson [as you'll see, you've already won half the battle]: when you need a new phone, sure, go to the store and pick out which you want. But under no circumstances should you buy it immediately. Exercise a tiny bit of post-picking effort and look at reviews AFTER choosing [instead of before, when the sheer number can swamp you, as it did me. My first choice wasn't available in store].
