Customer Rating: Summary: Great non-toxic polish! Comment: This is the main competitor to Honeybee Gardens Watercolor Polish [....] , which I love, but who doesn't make red! The products are identical aside from the use of FD&C colours by Acquarella and only earth-based colours at Honeybee.
Wearability: incredible, as long as you follow directions (apply at night, let "cure" while sleeping). If you don't do this, expect a chip within a day, even on the toes. Lasts longer during warmer and moister weather, might chip more easily during cold, dry weather (true also with regular polish). The odor is minimal, and smells like acrylic paint (which it is).
I used Honeybee's polish remover from Whole Foods and it worked well (far better than using rubbing or grain alcohol).
I wish this were sold in stores or salons, which is another reason I'm more a fan of Honeybee (if a store carries any of their products, you can have them order it for you, saving on shipping).
Then again, their website has 5 shades of red with adequate descriptions for each, so I'll have to use both brands for now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does not last long.... Great product but disappointing. Comment: Like other people mentioned, it is very light, odorless, dries fast and looks great. Colors on the website and the brochure do look slightly different, but I understand how hard it is to match the color, so I won't complain about that.
I was so happy to have purchased this product for a little while. However, my nail polish did not last very long. To be precise, it lasted for a whole day.
Since this is a water-based product, any contact to water softens the surface fairly quickly. I take bath daily, wash dishes with hands and go swimming often. After one of these activities, my nail polish chipped or peeled or no longer shiny.
I tried different ways such as not soaking my hands while bathing, putting rubber gloves on when I wash dishes, let the nail polish dries & harden for a whole day before extended contacts with water. None of them worked to my satisfaction.
I love this product for its strengths, but loath it for is weaknesses. I literally have to apply a fresh coat before leaving the house everyday. Also, it takes at least 3 times longer to remove this nail polish than conventional one.
I purchased Acquarella Remover, 3 different colors of nail polish, Conditioner and Moisturizer. That's $90 investment. They need to come up with a strong top coat to meet the investment.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love using the product, no more nail troubles! Comment: I have had problems in the past with regular polish and remover degrading the condition of my nails, making them dry and prone to peeling. This is eliminated by using the Aquarella polishes. Although the first few times I used these products, I did exactly as instructed, with all of the prep work, the correct remover, etc., now I do not do any of the preps at all, and it still lasts fine on me!As to the remover, I find that plain rubbing alchohol (99 cents per bottle!) works as well as or better than the Aquarella remover. I pour a little into a small bowl, and briefly soak my fingers (or toes!) and then remove with a cotton pad. I pour the remaining alcohol back into the bottle for next time. Works great, really cheap, and not hazardous to my health!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: You can make this product work for you Comment: It's pricey, but what can you do when you have chemical sensitivities? You can still have pretty nails and "icky"free days with Acquarella nail polish. No odors, no harsh chemicals, only long-lasting nail polish. I lightly touch up my nails after a few days of wear. When Acquarella nail polish chips, it looks a lot more attractive than typical nail polish chips.
As for remover... I use Honeybee. It is also natural and odorfree. Honeybee is very good for removing Acquarella nail polish. Use Honeybee with cotton balls and your Acquarella will come right off. (I've found it is less work to remove Acquarella than it is the chemical based polishes.) Honeybee is available from Amazon for less than $6.
Acquarella nail polish is a good investment.
Customer Rating: Summary: Non-toxic Water-based Nail Polish Comment: This is a non-toxic water-based nail polish (no smell at all). I have been wearing it on my toes for over two weeks and it is holding up as well as any of the other more toxic brands. It really works well and is safe.
