Customer Rating: Summary: excellent buy Comment: My friend recommended this product and it is wonderful. I like that I can see the photos before I print them and decide how many of each to print. from the camera to printing and not having to go to the store. Ink is priced low too.
Customer Rating: Summary: HOLY CRAP!!! Comment: For some reason the kodak printers seem to be one of the most controversial printer here. Well printers in general do cause a lot of people grief, but Kodak has the best so far. I bought this 5300 6 months ago and its been flawless. They are several things you need to do when you first get this product and any other electronic device.
1. Carefully open it, and read the instructions all the way.
2. Follow the instructions step by step.
3. Once its set up, update the firmware of the printer.
4. If there are problems, I got a refurb of it with Kodak factory warranty of one year, immediately get it replaced.
5. Make sure you know how to operate it, read instructions, call for help so you don't have to leave a review saying its an idiotic design.
Well the ink is also so cheap, it makes you want to cry. Go to Wal-Mart and compare prices. Also, they have photo paper slot and types of photopaper you can buy. I bought this because I didn't need the fax, but this better rated than the 5100 and LCD screen has its uses. If you are into more business setting go for 5500. The 5500 on amazon has several postings and make sure you check all the reviews because I have read them. The better reviewers are in there and their expertise shows. Oh yeah, I have done plenty of print outs, no problem, and saved a bundle.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Ink, Bad Printer! Comment: I bought this because I was tired of paying a fortune for ink! I've had this 7 mos. and it worked well for the first 3 - great pictures, fast, quiet printing. For the last 4 mos. nothing but problems! It won't print black most of the time. I've wasted ink and paper doing test and cleaning the print head. It won't print pictures on anything but Kodak photo paper, when it prints. They are sending me a new print head (under warranty) if this doesn't work, I'm getting my money back and buying an HP! I don't care how much I have to pay for ink!
Customer Rating: Summary: Kodak 5300 Comment: Quick instructions on installation and easy to read directions. Pictures look great when printed and the scan option is awesome! I had a small easy share printer prior to this which was simple and also printed great pictures, but it often had trouble printing and I was always needing more paper than ink. This 5300 is affordable and actually alot of product for the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Going for a second printhead tomorrow Comment: I read all the reviews (certainly not all favorable)and still was enticed by the cheap ink prices and the ability to do photo printing at home. The long and short of my experience has been a quick, simple installation (that I actually videotaped in case there was a problem) of the printer and software. Used the sample paper provided to test the printer and was very pleased with the results. I did not have a photo printer before this one so I can't compare it to anything and they were good enough for my needs. Went back to the store and bought the 135 sheet value pack of paper and ink. Got thru one set of cartridges and most of the paper, upon the need to install the second set of new cartridges due to diminished print quality (mising colors), after many cleanings and deep cleanings I called service and was told I need a new printhead. The new printhead and new cartridges arrived from Kodak and I had instant success upon the first photo printed....well, the printing has diminished again (missing colors) and I changed the cartridges and still have missing colors, cleaned and deep cleaned just wastes ink. Tomorrow I will be on the phone again with customer service. When this thing works it works well, but there seems to be a real problem with the printheads. My guess is that the ink dries in the printhead and causes a clog. Crappy design!!
