Summary: Makes Life After a Landline Workable
Comment: I gave up my landline because I hardly used it and people call on the cell phone when I am at home anyway. This system makes it just as convenient while eliminating the unnecessary expense of the landline. (You can still use it with your landline though; I don't.)

You can answer cell phone calls on the base station or any added extensions (I have 2 for now) so you don't need to find your cell phone. I plug my cell phone in to the charging station next to the base station when I get home and it stays there until I head out again, fully charged. Even if I don't, just having the cell phone near the base unit gets it to hook up as soon as I get home, so if a call comes in while I am just getting in the door I can answer it on the system or the cell phone.

While you can't get text messages from the base station or the extensions, people actually call when they have something important to say, mostly. Those crazy kids and their texting. :)

In the month that I have used this unit I have had to refresh it twice to reconnect to the cell phone. It is pretty easy to do. One time it was my fault because I messed up the bluetooth settings while trying to pass a video file to another cell phone user. The other time, I am not sure. Based on other reviews, this will happen from time to time but so far it has not given me buyers regret.

Another nice feature is that it does not mess up my wireless Internet connection. My previous landline cordless desk phone would drop my Internet connection so I would have to use the cell phone anyway if trying to use the Internet while on the phone. That alone was worth the switch.

The sound quality is pretty good. A little less quality then the cell phone alone, but okay. I really never liked the delay and sound quality of cell phones anyway. I am getting used to it since I need to be on the cell phone so much while out and about. No one on the other end of the call has noticed I am not actually using my cell phone when talking on calls through this unit. It is also nice to have a larger handset and not hold a little cell phone up to my brain. The speaker phones on the base and handsets actually work better than using just the cell speakerphone.

The caller id works well except one of my extensions does not record the correct date even though I have it set on the base and extension. I have not checked the other extension so obviously this is not a big problem for me. Could just be a setting I need to check, or if something is defective I will return the extension. I have not seen this mentioned in other posts so it might just be something here.

The call waiting with caller id from the cell phone works great on these units. You hear the beep and the handset shows the number calling and it is not hard to switch over the the other call. Once in a while it beeps but it is a text message or email coming in on the cell phone. In that case nothing shows up on the display, which makes sense since I am not actually getting another phone call.

I can't comment on using this with a landline or with the built-in answering system since I don't have a landline now and as such the voice mail system is from my cell phone provider. It is actually nice only having one place to check messages and not have to call "home" to check messages. It is really easy to check cell phone voice mail from this system. It is just like making any other call.

There are other nifty features like wallpapers and ringers, and a really good intercom system that would be great for people in a larger home with more than one person. You can actually call from one unit to another, or to all. I call my cat in the kitchen all the time from the bedroom but so far she has not answered. I guess it is not feline friendly.

This system will pay for itself, even with the extensions I purchased, in about 4 months, after dropping the landline. These days having one less monthly bill is important.

I recommend going for it if you are thinking about getting this system. If you have problems with it not pairing with your cell phone or bad sound quality, just return it. I really like my new system. It is working quite well for me.

Summary: Ok if you don't want to use blue tooth opption
Comment: I have had this phone for 3 months now. Bought it because of the blue tooth feature that allows you to answer and make calls from this unit on your cell phone line. The feature when it is working is kind of cool. The problem is the base wont retain the info and has to continually be reset or you have to remove the cell from the phone and reinstall. I have contacted AT&T regarding this problem and they keep telling me to reset the phone when this occurs. Problem is this happens about every other day. AT&T was of no help. Other than the blue tooth problem the phone so far works fine.

Summary: battery life
Comment: I really like the system however I find I can't get more than a 2 or 3 hours talk time on the battery before it needs to go back onto the charger. I was talking to a friend the other night having been using the phone several times during the day and was surprised to find the indicator of a low battery. I probably only had used the phone for talking about 2 1/2 hrs. I talked to customer service and was told the charging system for the phone wasn't working correctly and I should send it in. This was within a couple days after receiving this system. I did not want to send it back! I then bought a phone to expand, a stand alone with just a charger. I have the same problem with that one. The batteries just don't hold a charge as long as my previous phone, a Uniden.

Summary: iPhone issues
Comment: We had been using the phone with my Razrs and it worked well. It Almost seemed to improve recption. When we switched to the iPhone, it no longer worked well. It will connect intermittently with the base station. It will be paired successfully but won't connect. I have to unpair both iPhones and re-pair the with the base station for them to connect. I have to do this every time I come home, which is not feasable. Maybe missing something, maybe there is something different about the iPhones than there was with the Razrs.
