Summary: Sony CD Walkman
Comment: This is really great. I can stop it and it will pick up where I left off on my language CD. I even bought some speakers so I can play it for others.

Summary: Between a rock and a hard place
Comment: You have my sympathy. If you're old enough to remember long playing records which delivered better audio, high fidelity than anything since, then you may have now noticed that inferior sounding Ipod's and mp3 players have been rapidly replacing portable CD/MP3 players which I still like to use to play all those CD's that I've accumulated over the years, on the go, or late a night. Well, if you visit [...], these days, you will see only four, very cheap, walkman cd models remaining. Years ago, I used to own a couple of portable Aiwa cd players that lasted for several years. Then, I had a Sony Walkman for a little over a year that broke, then a Panasonic SL-SX480A (now unavailable) that lasted a year and half; recently, a Memorex CD/MP3 player that was immediately, defective and lastly, the Sony DEJ011 CD Walkman that lasted about two weeks. Oh yes, the warrantee you are thinking. Well, once you send in your defective, new cd player, it is replaced by a "rebuilt" that is only covered for ninety days. Replacement plan, you say? Yes, for an extra $15-$20. that's an option, but remember, you have to be out of the manufacturer's warrantee period to even get to use it. So, now I'm on my fifth or sixth player in less than a year (this time a Sony D-NF340 CD Walkman & MP3 Player w/FM Tuner), and I'm praying it may prove the exception. If it is, I'll even order two, expecting that in a short time, I won't be able to find even one decent cd/mp3 portable player left on the market.

Summary: Sony CD Walkman
Comment: I am quite satisfied with this product. Very simple controls, but might be better to have the instructions in a booklet rather than on the cardboard packaging. With the included earbud speakers audio quality is sufficiently good for books on CD. Battery life is quite good (about 15 hours). Battery replacement is easier if you use a small screwdriver to pry out batteries.

Summary: Broken Sony
Comment: I received the Sony in a timely fashion. It broke internally the second week I had it. I won't buy Sony again.

Summary: What a disapppointment
Comment: I really love Sony products, and this one had such good customer reviews that I don't really know what went wrong...
I bought this for my son, who has to listen to therapeutic music for 30 minutes per day. I figured the anti-skip technology would be important to keep the music playing for a bouncy little boy. I liked the shuffle feature too.
But from the beginning, it worked poorly. Frequently at the end of 30 minutes we'd find the music had at some point turned off, and we didn't know when or why. And the ALVS apparently reduced the volume on some therapeutically distorted disks so low that they no longer had therapeutic benefit, and was too easy to accidentally turn on. The layout of the buttons was awkward, with the play button too far from the headphones port to easily control in a tune belt. I'm giving up on getting this working right and buying something else.
