Comment: This Toro Ultra 12 Amp Variable Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum With Metal Impeller #51599 is fantastic, by Far the BEST and should be the only one sold by TORO, the others I bought were not sturdy enough this one gets the job done and more... I am the envy of the guy nest door with his gas powered sorry unit. Thanks Toro for finally having this unit!

Summary: Leaf Vacuum Rookie
Comment: I've used this only as a vacuum.
1) Very handy in places where there aren't enough leaves to create a large pile of leaves.
2) Vacuuming a lawn isn't practical. I rake into piles and then use the vacuum to deal with piles. I empty the vacuum into a large dumping area in my yard. It's not clear that this actually is more efficient than placing the raked leaves into bags and having the bags hauled away.
3) Maximum range is limited to 150 feet according to the instructions. And to get to 150 feet a 12 gauge extension cord must be used. For distances up to 100 feet a 14 gauge extension cord must be used. So plan on spending a lot on extension cords. In my case (I bought 150 feet of 12 gauge) I spent more on the cords than on the vacuum. Those orange heavy duty exension cords that you already own are only 16 gauge and 12 gauge cords are much more expensive than 16 cage cords.

Comment: After breaking the plastic impeller of another Toro when I was using the vacuum function in a ditch, I purchased the Toro #51599 with the metal impeller. This is simply the best unit you can buy for less than $100. It is particularly suited for areas with numerous twigs and rocks. Superior power and very well-built. Amazon is always the best place to buy.

Summary: Great overall, but...
Comment: I purchased this model back in the spring to vacuum leaves that came down late fall/early winter in one of our flower beds. My old electric Toro model had served me well, but had lost considerable mulching and vacuuming power. The new model did a great job--the extra power and the metal blade (great idea!) made the job much easier. I have also been using it this fall as a leaf blower and vac. My only complaint, and it almost led me to take another star off of the rating (three instead of four) is that WHOEVER thought it was a good idea to put the zipper on the vacuum bag on the side rather than the bottom was an idiot. If you are dumping the mulched leaves into a paper leaf bag, as I do, it's nearly impossible to completely fill the bag without making a mess. My old Toro leaf vac had the zipper on the bottom, which made emptying the bag a breeze. Whoever thought that putting it on the side was an improvement must not use the product.

As most of the reviewers on Amazon have already shared their opinion on this product, I am just going to say "They are all correct" This Variable Speed Electric Blower is indeed a very nice product.
Having a electric blower/Vac which starts instantly when the neighbor has the Gas type and seeing him having difficulty to start that rusty old thing gives me a great deal of confidence in the product.
PROS:
[+] The 12 Amp motor is powerful enough for any kind of job that needs a blower.
[+] Plastic construction makes this blower light weight but still feels solid to hold.
[+] Uses Electricity and makes less pollution to the environment
[+] Included accessories make this purchase worthwhile for its price.
[+] The Metal Impeller is impressive for mulching job
CONS:
[-] For gathering larger leaves and debris the suction power at times is not adequate
[-] As the collection bag gets filled the suction power decreases.
[-] The collection bag dangling on your shoulder
[-] This unit does not come with an included extension cord.
The power of Toro Ultra 12 Amp Variable Speed Electric Blower is unbeatable, I demonstrated this to my daughter by creating a "Magic Flying carpet" - Yes it is that powerful blowing action that it can displace a carpet off the ground by few inches! Easily!
This is indeed a good buy, the sheer number of reviewers with 5 STAR rating is a clear indication of the quality of the product. Buy it with confidence, I am sure it will last long enough to prove it's price tag of $70.
