Customer Rating: Summary: Serves the intended purpose well. Comment: As stated in another review, this is a very basic harness. It is probably intended for alpine climbing where you are less likely to be hanging in the harness than in technical rock climbing. Mine is the older model and I added gear loops that are now provided on the new harnesses. Mine, as it is now, weighs 15 ounces or about 425 grams. I have used it for class 4 rock climbing, climbing in the gym, and glacier travel. For my purposes it has worked fine and is safe. If you plan to become an avid rock climber (indoors or out) you will want to look at a slightly different design and one that has some padding. One other comment is that it doesn't have a "belay loop" like most rock harness have. I don't find that any problem. If you are purchasing a harness you might look at the Petzl web site for their excellent information on harnesses (and other technical data).
Good luck. Climb safe, reaching the summit is optional, coming home alive is mandatory.
