Spotlight customer reviews:

Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent trimmer. Comment: This product is excellent. I have been using this since a long time. The vaccum feature sucks all the cut hair and is easy to wash, charge and carry in the provided pouch.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent choice Comment: As some reviewers had expressed reservations I took a flyer on the many positive reviews. I have not been disappointed! The trimmer served my needs on my beard and also my mustache. Several reviewers criticized their inability to trim their mustache. I have found no problems with the basic trimmer without the attachment. I have found the supposed mustache trimmer not worth the effort to put it on the unit. The turbo speed does indeed do its job.
Customer Rating: Summary: One of the Best Beard Trimmers Comment: Having worn a beard for appx. 30 years, I've used a lot of trimmers, at a lot of settings. My beard has gone from 3-inch length to 1/4 inch length, rough tracing my own growth from a 20-something college kid to an AARP neophyte. By far, this is the best trimmer, I've used. Love the length settings--for the first time, I have a length setting that doesn't fall between the length I desire. Also, you can't beat the hair catcher. Makes sink clean-up a cinch. Haven't found a use for the turbo setting yet, but I press it occasionally just to hear it rev and be reassured that all the features truly do work . Would recommend for anyone who wears a beard or goatee.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not as good as its predeccesor. Comment: My old T965's battery gave up after 4 faithful years of service. The problems with the new T980 are: the new body is a hard slick plastic which is more difficult to grip (slips out of the hand); the small/fine trimmer is now an attachment. That means you've got this small trimmer head that you have to keep in the medicine cabinet or when you travel in a safe place where you won't lose it; the depth indicator is hard to read and the numbers aren't always centered in the tiny viewing window. Philips has now replaced the old standard coiled power cords with specialized adapters. This means when you're on vacation you've got to bring the AC adapter for your face trimmer and then bring a different AC adapter for your beard trimmer.
Pros: It looks real pretty. It cuts well.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great beard shaver Comment: I researched all of the Norelco beard trimmers before deciding to buy on Amazon. I read all of the reviews and noted some of the negatives like noise and the fact that the shaver doesn't "vaccum" all of the whiskers. I must say I haven't seen much of these negatives. The trimmer works great and beats my old Braun which did not collect whiskers. I would say that 90% of the whiskers are collected in the compartment rather than on my bathroom counter. The noise in my opinion is to be expected given the cutting and vacuum action being performed. I especially like the carrying case and accessory trimmer that are included with this model. The only negative I have noted is that the trimmer settings are not real precise. If I want a real clean look I have to go all the way down to the lowest setting and my goatee needs trimming about every 3 days. For the guys who are able to keep their beards a little longer this is probably not much of an issue.
I highly recommend this shaver if you are wanting a clean, neat trim.
