One recommendation is to buy LR44 replacement batteries on the internet rather than in a store. They are MUCH less expensive that way. The ball point refill looks like it would be easy to replace with a generic one. Customer Rating: Summary: Slow start to a great pen Comment: After receiving the pen, I tried, without success, to get it to write. I took it apart and squezzed the ink catridge. After some ink leaked out of the base of the tip, the pen did begin to write. Back together it has worked flawlessly. The light has made taking notes in a dark auditorium easy. The light is just bright enough to see with, but not enough to be an annnoyance to anyone sleeping during the lecture.
