Summary: Terrible Pump
Comment: It does the job, but it is very loud and it takes forever just to fill a one man kayak. I am appalled at the other reviews that were pleased with this product. It is nice that it is rechargeable, but just needs more power to be effective. I would look elsewhere, which is what I am doing, but who knows when this piece of junk gets good reviews!

Summary: Works better than expected!
Comment: I bought the pump to inflate my Coleman kayak and was very pleased to see how quickly it worked. It's great for what it was intended to do - inflate toys and small rafts. It only took a few minutes to get up and going and on the water. Would highly recommend it for such uses.

Summary: very loud; arrived uncharged and defective
Comment: I measured the noise level of this unit at 97dBA at arm's length. That's about as loud as a train going by a hundred feet away. If you pull into a campground at night and want to inflate something, you better have a bullet-proof vest on if you use this thing.

The hose is a convenient feature, especially for air mattresses. However, the unit does not come with any provision for stowing the hose, greatly increasing the likelihood that you will lose or damage it.

This unit uses a 6V sealed lead-acid battery. That means it feels heavy, thanks to the lead.

My unit arrived with a dead battery. If you've ever had a dead battery in your car, and then found that it never really was as good afterwards, you'll understand why lead-acid batteries are usually shipped in a charged state (unless they are shipped dry).

In addition, after a full day of charging, the unit still did not work. A few seconds of charging corrected this, indicating that there is some other defect.

Despite these shortcomings, this is a useful unit, assuming you get one that is defect-free.

Summary: not bad, but consider...
Comment: This pump came charged in the box, and got it to inflate my large kayak quickly. The deflation mode is nice. Two things to consider:
1) while it inflated the kayak quickly up to a point, it really doesn't put out enough pressure to make it fully taunt.
2) nice that it recharges and can be taken camping, etc., but would have been better off buying one with a car battery recharger vs electric outlet (though I have not yet been in a situation where it ran out of juice).

Summary: Quick, Easy to Use Pump From the Outdoor Experts
Comment: Coleman's Quickpump is a handy device for those who own inflatable rafts, large flotation devices, air mattresses and other object s that require too much air to inflate manually. This air pump quickly fills up any inflatable object, saving you the huffing and puffing necessary to inflate the old fashioned way.

One of the many nice things about this pump is the fact that it is electric. Many air pumps- like those that are often included when purchasing an air mattress- are battery powered. This means that the batteries could fail at some point when you need the pump most, delaying your attempt to inflate your favorite flotation device. With Quickpump, you get electric, rechargeable energy. You just plug the pump into a socket, using the detachable cord, let it charge, and then take it directly to the item that needs to be inflated.

Coleman includes some different attachments for use on different valves (like a wider attachment for Boston valves) and it also includes a hose at the end for added convenience. With this hose, you can stand back, hold the base of the unit a short distance away, and direct the flow of air into the valve. This makes the use of the pump more comfortable.

This pump does have a few limitations. It will not work on objects that require a needle tip (like a basketball) or similar inflationary requirement. There are no adaptors for this, so you will not be able to use Quickpump. Also, keep in mind that this pump is a little on the noisy side. For something so compact (it weighs only about 4 pounds) it really makes a lot of noise.

Overall, this is a good pump to own for those who have large inflatable items that cannot be inflated by hand. The pump recharges quickly and efficiently, providing a constant, steady flow of air without the worry of having batteries fail. It makes a nice choice of gift for campers and others who need a solid, reliable air pump that they can count on.
