Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing! Comment: I have never installed cabinets, but found how expensive it is to have installed. We opted to install the cabinets ourselves. This tool made it much easier than expected. We were abe to get each cabinet perfectly lined up.
Customer Rating: Summary: Paid for itself on first use Comment: I am a contractor and can tell you to rest assured that you will not regret this purchase. I ordered this along with the shorter mini brute version and will be leaving the same review for both. Working alone installing cabinets or even the above range top microwaves becomes an accurate "snap" with this product. As you are doing now, I read all the reviews and must admit that some made me wonder why the opinions could vary so much. Some had even mentioned how they could build these themselves with parts from Home Depot. Don't waste your time wondering. You'd be wasting your time running around trying to duplicate it. The "slip" nut is really innovative and ingenious. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU LOOK INTO THE "DRYWALL" VERSION OF THIS PRODUCT because at the time of my purchase, it included a two foot extension at the same cost of this non "drywall" version. The only thing missing with this tool is a good carrying case of some sort. The other thing I will mention to you about these T-Jak tools is to be careful when dismantling them, sliding the threaded part back into the pipe. The threaded piece can pinch your hand if not careful. I highly recommend both T-Jak products.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review of The T-Jak and the helpers Comment: I bought this thing two years ago. I'm a sole proprietor, a remodeling contractor, and the majority of the time I work alone. It used to be a bear to have wall cabinets on my shoulders trying to get one screw in so I could balance it.
No more! The T-Jak works beautifully. I have two of them now, and a 2' extension "helper" as well. I've used it for everything from installing cabinets, to drywalling ceilings, to hanging those really heavy over the stove microwaves that are fastened to the bottom of the cabinet above them. Ever juggle one of those? This tool paid for itself on the first job I used it.
Sure, it's made of steel pipe, and paddles that fasten to the top and bottom. Sure the Screw device that adjusts with a fine thread can wear out eventually. Parts? I've NEVER had a problem getting parts from the manufacturer.
By the way, to the guy griping about what it is made of, and anyone could do it. Did you? Have you made any tool? I think this tool is easy enough to use for anyone and kudos to the guy who dreamed it up. Takes the place of a helper for me, and it is never late or absent!
Customer Rating: Summary: Help on site Comment: A third hand on the job, whether you're hanging kitchen cabinets or balancing pictures while you grab your hammer, this simple, light tool is the silent helper you've always wanted. Expedited delivery arrived in time to take the tool to the job site the next day.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap for what it does Comment: I prefer to install kitchen cabinets more or less by myself...it's patient, exacting work that doesn't lend itself to 'advice over the shoulder'. If I need help, it's intermittent 'help me hoist this'. The T-Jak (along with a wall cleat) makes patient (and safe) upper-cabinet alingment easy for me to do by myself...so I can take the time I need to take to get things perfect. Add a pair of Pony 8510 clamps, some trim-head and cabinet mounting screws, a couple of drill bits and good levels, and it will come out right.
