It really takes you from zero drumming to some blues drumming very quickly! However the video is SHORT, it is 38 min and if you want step over the basics into musicianship of blues drumming get "Blues Drums" DVD with Dave Russell. While this DVD let you start, Dave will keep you going! This video is much focused and very concentrated. However it stays up to promise as it teaches you some blues drumming in very short time. It is probably the best thing to get started! Customer Rating: Summary: A focused and information rich video. Comment: This video gets straight to the point quickly, giving you all the info you need to be able to play a blues shuffle and a slow blues groove - including base and snare parts, hihat and ride cymbal variations, and several fills. The camera angles are excellent, allowing you to see exactly how to physically play the parts, and there is even an inset demonstrating the footwork so you can see all the limbs playing. There are several clips of the band playing - clearly demonstrating the application of the grooves just discussed. This is an information rich, focused 38 minute video.
