Customer Rating: Summary: You'll Find Yourself Humming it All Day Long Comment: Charleston! Charleston! A group of kids have discovered their parents' childhood belongings including clothes and records. Their great uncle (S. Z. Sakall) is aghast that they would mock the 1920s and does his best to portray the era in a more favorable light.
Nanette Carter (Doris Day) is a dancer who yearns to be on the stage, but everyone recommends more training. She dutifully complies. That is, until she is offered the lead role in a show if she can sponsor it as well. She agrees, but her rich uncle is reluctant to give her the money because the stock market has just crashed. They make a bet; if she can say "No" to every question asked of her for two whole days, she can have the money for the show. It isn't an easy undertaking, especially since she is in love (Gordon MacRae). Also appearing is Eve Arden whose wisecracks liven the show.
Tea for Two is a movie filled with lovely songs. "Crazy Rhythm," "Do Do Do," "Tea For Two," and "I Only Have Eyes For You" are standouts, but the title song is the most memorable. It is a wistful song heard several times throughout.
Although it is set in the 20s, costume designer Leah Rhodes ignored the era for the most part and stuck to popular 1950s fashions.
Customer Rating: Summary: Most enjoyable Comment: Great super transaction. Received this movie which was in great condition super fast and enjoyed watching it immensley. If you love Doris Day, you'll love this musical movie. And Gordon MacRae, what an incredible dreamy singing voice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous entertainment Comment: A friend loaned me the video of this movie, and I loved it, but I DO want to own it on DVD. Missing much of the dialogue on VHS is not entirely the fault of my ears. Another friend 1/2 my age, with perfect hearing, viewed another DVD with me and was amazed that she had missed some of the dialogue in her VHS version.
I was astounded and thrilled at Doris's dancing ability. I'm surprised that her talent in that vein has not been exploited! Buying the movie just for that is worth it, for me. To the powers that be - - P - U - L - E - E - Z - E put it on DVD!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: A Must for Eve Arden Admirers Comment: Sure, Doris is great, Gordon is hunky and Cuddles is lovable, but view this film through the eyes of Eve Arden's character. She thinks it's all rather silly and it is -- but great fun.
At the piano, Eve Arden practically looks into the camera and deadpans, "Does this strike anyone else as completely imbecillic?"
Yes, it is and the world will not forget!
Customer Rating: Summary: Why Isn't This On DVD? Comment: I Like Doris day movies and I think Tea for Two is a cute movie and I like the plot and the singing and dancing. I can't belive this movie hasn't been put on DVD. Last year several of Doris Day's movies were put out on region 1 DVd's but sadly Tea ForvTwo wan't one of them so please put this charming movie out on DVD!
