Customer Rating: Summary: Better than what others said Comment: I actually bought this at Yaoi-con. And despite what people say, its a really excellent novel. Yes, the seme rapes the uke. But if you've been reading any yaoi, you know that happens alot. To me, I actually like the idea of the teacher pursuing a relationship with a student instead of the student pursuing a relationship with the teacher.
I do wish that some of the novel was in Sasagawa's point of view, since I'd love to read what he's thinking when he goes after Jun.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's called "Immoral Darkness" for a reason... Comment: Wow, I'm really shocked at all the negative reviews for this book! Yes, it's dark, and it's immoral, but then again, read the title (hello?). This isn't some fluffy high-school fantasy romance, and it never pretends to be. It's about emotional dependence. I found it to be a good read, especially is you love angst/kink, which I happen to love. It's not the greatest book ever written, but it lives up to it's name, and I enjoyed it.
Customer Rating: Summary: *start* Ohh this is great! *1/2 done* Someone shoot me!!! Comment: I have to admit, for the first half of this book, I was enjoying it.. mostly. But after about halfway I had done a few doubletakes on the seme. A few people have already mentioned this, so I don't feel bad about it:
WTF was the author thinking allowing the seme to have sex with a 14-year-old girl? Isn't that illegal to write about? I dunno, either way, even without that bit of information the seme is seriously disturbed in the head. He always says that he loves the uke, but obviously, he can't be loyal or balanced. Also, how it ended with the teacher that helped the uke out made me angry. There was no real point to that! I think this is the first yaoi to make me angry.. sure there's been ones I didn't like, but that was it. This one made me want to chunk the book and say "forget you!"
I know that's not much of a review, but trust me: Borrow it before you buy it. Definately.
Customer Rating: Summary: repulsive Comment: Warning: spoilers below, gives away much of the novel:
Like S. Ward, I like yaoi novels, but this one was so wretched I threw it out. I wouldn't even give it away, no yaoi fan should be subjected to this tripe. Why did I hate it so? The uke was likeable enough, but the seme was emotionally abusive. He rapes the uke, then pursues him like a stalker, getting angry if he even smiles at others. Eventually he passionately professes his love--and then the next day he casually sleeps with a 14 year old. When the uke confronts him about this, not only is he not ashamed about it, he laughs in his face! What kind of scum teacher 1. uses a junior high girl like a kleenex (even if she was just as casual about it) and 2. sneers when his lover confronts him about it? Later when he tells the uke that he won't sleep with her anymore, are we supposed to like him? By that point in the story I just wanted the uke to get far, far away from the sleeze, and never look back. The icing on the cake is when the uke is in front of a teacher he respects and the seme feels him up and goes into graphic detail about their sex life, all to shock the other teacher and to humiliate the uke. What a repulsive protagonist.
At the end the author congratulates herself for a 'happy' ending--hah! Having a wounded, emotionally scarred and needy person end up with someone who will humiliate him, manipulate his emotions and betray his trust, is hardly a happy outcome. Save your money for a yaoi novel that's actually well-written.
Customer Rating: Summary: Utterly disgusting Comment: I just feel the need to express my feelings about this upon finishing it. The 28 year old "hero" was having sex with a 14 year old girl. Through the entire book, even while he's telling the uke he loves him and means everything to him. A 14 year old girl. Who in God's name thought that was an acceptable or even appropriate thing to bring over here?
Yeah, the seme is obviously messed up considering he rapes the uke and really humiliates him time and again. But a teacher who sees nothing wrong with screwing a girl in middle school is a little beyond the pale, don't you think? Does June even read this stuff before buying it?
I read BL for romance and sex. Between the heroes. The sex can even be out there. But I'm really not interested in a pedophilic hero. June's books just went from autobuys to "waiting for some other guinea pigs to try them before I do". Because Immoral Darkness just got shoved into the trash and I'm out the cost.
