Customer Rating: Summary: He may have past Special Forces training but he is not the real deal. Comment: As I have said above ...Yes he was a member of a British Special Forces but he does not really practice what he preaches. He has been interviewed and exposed as a fake . He sleeps in hotels and has someone else prepare things he comes in at the last minute and acts as host.
The book doesn't take you through situations completely. if you are really looking for a good book Les Stroud ( Survivor Man)
Survive!: Essential Skills and Tactics to Get You Out of Anywhere.
is the real deal.
When he goes out; it is him and him alone. He takes all his own camera gear with him and tapes himself while he is doing it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing! Comment: Even if I won't ever be in all the places this book is discribing, it has incredible value for me and my son's outdoors adventures! There might be conflicting information out there about Bear Grylls but we don't care!. We still enjoy his amazing book. Way to go, Bear!
Customer Rating: Summary: A book to learn from Comment: Bear Grylls is an amazing individual this book is great for learning how to experience and love nature to its full extent. it is a book to show you the basics of survival highly recommended...This book will give you a general knowledge of survival techniques it wont make you a professional but that can only come through experience.
Customer Rating: Summary: Oh yes! Comment: I love Bear Grylls and never miss his show when it's on. When I heard that this book was coming out I all but camped at my local bookstore until I got my hands on it. So, enough of the fan girl chatter. Is the book fun? Yep. Is it useful? Yep. I hope I never have to make a snow cave but I kinda sorta know what to do now. Is it abolutely chock of details about survival. Yep. I'm ready to go eat some ants or supervise my husband as he skins a snake now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Somewhere between coffee table book and survival manual Comment: First off. I am a big fan of Bear Grylls. I watch his show regularly, and I have read about his climb to the top of Everest. With that said, this book left me a little disappointed. It does have a lot of information in it and glossy pictures but it lacks the nitty gritty info of other survival manuals. For instance; I did not find a list of basic items that should be carried in the bush. Also, the fire making section doesn't really touch on how to use the flint and steel used by Bear in his show. I guess if you are a fan of the show Man vs Wild then this is a good accompaniment. But, if you are looking for a good survival skills book this isn't it.
