I wish the writers had looked into soybeans also. There are several receipes in " Skinny Bitch In The Kitchen". Not good.

Don't be put off by the title....sometimes it take a bit of shock value and fun to make a book stand out.... I am glad these books do.... If everyone followed these books.... the world would be free of many diseases, shortage of foods, animal cruelty and global warming.... Think about it!!!

Customer Rating:      Summary: Life Changing Comment: A friend recommended I buy this boxed set. This is a wake up call and let's just say it gets your attention. It's like boot camp. I enjoyed this book and appreciated the authors' straight talk, no nonsense approach. I am 48 years old, have a slow Thyroid and for the first time in 2 years I have been able to lose weight. I feel good and have more energy --- there is hope and the Vegan way is definitely the way to go!

It was funny (if you have a sense of humor that can tolerate cursing and crudeness) but at times a little over the top. The authors definitely have an animal protection agenda, but that aside, there is some useful new information in the book. Their approach is upfront, and they tell you straight up what you need to do to get healthy. I felt that their approach was much more realistic than other approaches which expect you to abstain totally from certain kinds of healthy staple foods (carbs, fruit, etc.). While this is a vegan "diet," and might be a stretch for people who love their steak, I didn't find the transition too difficult (I was a vegetarian for 10 years prior). Ultimately, there is some info in the book that is stretching the imagination a little bit far (like the dairy industry conspiracy theory idea), and the tone might be offensive to some (particularly those with sensitivity to food issues), but it's worth a read, and the cookbook is definitely worth trying out.
I picked this book because I recently learned that I am lactose intolerant, and so it made sense for me to become a vegan. But I'm not sure how useful this book would be merely as a weight loss tool since unless you have a moral or medical reason to become a vegan, this plan would be tough to stick to if your only ambition was to lose weight. Sure, you'll lose weight (I've lost about 10 pounds in the month since I made the switch), but in the long term I think it would be way to challenging for most people to adhere to.
Bottom line: try it, but take it with a grain of salt.
