Customer Rating: Summary: Must have Comment: Amazon had the best price for this book. We have a friend who played Fable 2 without it and he complained how boring it was and how short the game was. He missed tons of stuff because he only followed the gold trail and didn't wander from that path and find all of the hidden items.
Customer Rating: Summary: Missing the most needed feature... Comment: I've bought a lot of game guides. I was glad to see that this book is well-printed. I've had a lot of game guides which pages so badly blurred they're illegible. Not a problem here.
However, the one feature I keep picking up this book for is the one feature it's missing. Maps. In my review of the game I mentioned the poor quality of the mapping. The book doesn't help. It gives you the hidden stuff, which is nice, but it doesn't give you the "meat-and-potatoes" of the game, such as the stores, the houses, the things you can buy...
The book does detail the quests pretty clearly. So if you have no clue on how to follow a dotted line on the screen to your various objectives, then I guess this book will help you.
If you're shooting for 100% completion then you'll really benefit from this book. Unfortunately I think the game will bore you before you reach that point, and it definitely won't help you in the day-to-day playing of the game.
Customer Rating: Summary: I want my money back Comment: Well first of all as far the the story missions go this guide is pointless there is always a trail telling you where to go and the info you do get you cannot benefit from. And where they should be helping they do not. For example in the beginning of the game there are certain tasks you can complete good or evil that will have effects when you become an adult in the game. The guide doesn't tell you what will happen I had to look online for that.
However I did not buy the guide for the story missions I bought it to help collect the randome weapons and items throughout Fable 2's world. But it fails even worse in this category. This is by far the worst guide I have ever purchased. If you are looking for a guide that shows all the locations of items in the game world look elsewhere.
This guide attempts to show where to go but is inaccurate for the majority of the time. Also the items you pick up dont match with the ones in the book so you don't know if you opened the correct chest for example because not only is the location off but the items in the book dont even match half the chests in the area. I have also been to areas where they have completley left out items that I happened to find by accident for example the silver key found in bowerstone market behind the pub. And there are many others I cannot find due to this poor guide.
Bottom line SAVE YOUR MONEY. Don't buy this trash it is a complete waste of money and I want my money back. If I had the option to give this guide a -5 I would have.
Customer Rating: Summary: Thank you BradyGames! Comment: Thank heavens for strategy guides. This book was my faithful sidekick during my Fable II adventure. Loaded with tips and pictures, it helped me find my way around Albion. Though the maps could be confusing sometimes the way they were laid out it sure was helpful in finding my chests, dig spots, dive spots and gargoyles. I also like their little achievement alerts that told you exactly when an achievement was attainable. In addition they included a large pull out poster of each achievement in the game. Thank you BradyGames for helping out around Albion P.S. The game itself also gets a 5 star review ...very fun and immersive gameplay!!
Customer Rating: Summary: decent info on quests, but maps are not accurate Comment: The book contains good information on the quests - good vs evil resolution. It also details all the skills, enemies, items, and weapons.
However, it doesn't list where each item/weapon can be found or bought.
The maps are also somewhat inaccurate. The illustration doesn't always match the map screen in the game. It also gets wrong the number of keys and gargoyles found in each zone; the region screen in the game lists more than what is shown in the guide book.
Overall, a decent resource if you want to know what consequence your actions will have, but you will need to look elsewhere if you're looking to find every item available.
11/5/08 - Edited to Add: The guide may not be wrong in the counts of keys and gargoyles. Some regions have "dungeons". In the game, when you enter a "dungeon", the map page shows the region and therefore the key/gargoyle counts are the combined total for the region and "dungeon".
The guide book keeps a separate page for each of these "dungeons". The key/gargoyle counts are then divided amongst the pages for the region and its "dungeons".
The description of the dungeons does not always indicate which region it belongs to because the map section of the guidebook merely lists every region and "dungeon" in alphabetical order.
