Customer Rating: Summary: Learning XHTML & CSS the Easy Way Comment: I am in the process of building my first website and am so grateful I stumbled across this book. It is so well written I forgot I was actually learning something. Every step the book takes you through builds the next concept for HTML, XHTML and CSS. I now have confidence that I can build a practical and stylish website that will be easy to use. If you are intimidated by textbooks, then this book is for you. It is fun, interesting (keeps your attention) and loaded with facts. I would purchase any other books by Head First...it is that good!
Customer Rating: Summary: Too much clutter Comment: There may be some valuable information in this book, but I couldn't see past all the clutter. Many pages are broken up by a host of info-tainment elements, including unrelated nostalgic pictures, deadpan comics, puzzles, handwritten notes and arrows all over the place, sidebars, and others. So the layout was a real turn-off. Some may prefer this mix. But if you just want the plain facts with some helpful tutorial material this is not the "6-star" book the most visible reviewers suggest.
CSS: The Missing Manual is an exceptional CSS tutorial and uses the kind of clean, straight forward approach I expected from this HTML book.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous Introduction to HTML! Comment: I'd done a little bit of HTML programming before, but it wasn't until I purchased this book that I understood how little I really knew about HTML and CSS. This book, by itself, will not make you an expert on all things HTML, but it'll sure get you started in the right direction and build a solid foundation of knowledge. Besides--it's a fun read! It seems like most programming books these days are boring and try to cover waaaaaay too much material. This one's different in that regard. It covers plenty of material, but it organizes it and presents it in a way that's fun and interesting to read, and its approach is very hands-on oriented and includes useful exercises for reinforcing your knowledge. Unlike most computer books, this one held my attention and kept me coming back for more. This book is a shining example of how computer books *should* be!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book Comment: All together a very creative book. It covers the basics and is a very good bedrock for launching your career in web design. Actually its the best book I have ever read on the subject (for beginners).
Customer Rating: Summary: Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML Comment: Only part way through the book and is my first attempt at learning to program for the internet.....as of now I give it 5 stars....the book makes
understanding the concepts really easy.
