Customer Rating: Summary: Better than the first Comment: This book was better than the first in the series. Cassie's interaction with several of the characters is extremely entertaining. Billie gives the humorous edge just like Jinx in Kim Harrison's novels (not saying these books are as good as Kim Harrison's, but I'm just saying it also offers a funny character). I think Cassie is great. She is a bit relatable -- doesn't act like a superhero freak as many other books depict their heroes/heroines. Loved it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great sequel, can't wait to read #3 Comment: The story of Cassandra Palmer, clairvoyant and soon to be Pythia. But she doesn't really want the power and all the trouble of everyone wanting to control her, use her,or kill her that goes along with it. She is still after Tony, the vampire that killed her family to get control of her, mainly to get her father's ghost. She is also looking for Myra, the destined Pythia that the power didn't choose that killed the last Pythia. All the while, trying not to get killed by the Circle of Light and not let the vampire Senate get a hold of her.
This story starts out with a bang and keeps going. Everywhere she turns, trouble is after her. Then, she has to decide if she is going to break down and loose her virginity to gain the full power of the Pythia. I really liked it and cannot wait to read the third book.
Customer Rating: Summary: claimed by shadows Comment: This book was great I stayed up all night to finish. I recommend this book to everyon
Customer Rating: Summary: Loved It! Comment: Wonderful read--unless you're like the previous reviewer and only read romance novels, which this isn't. It's a well-written, witty, funny and engaging urban fantasy. One of the best series in the genre, in my opinion.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exhausting Comment: I think this author needs to review some principles of writing books. She has so much action in her books that you just get tired of jumping from one disaster to another. She fails completely on drawing a vivid picture of her characters. At the end of the book I have a bunch of names in my head and not a single defining characteristic sticks so I can get a true feel for them. The reviewer says nonstop thrill ride but even a good roller coaster has some slow places so you can catch your breath. Long descriptive passages of place and character provides these breathing spaces, something Ms. Chance does not excell at to put it mildly. Unfortunately her lack of desciption makes these characters and her story a forgettable jumble of exploding noise without much entertainment being offered.
It's clear Ms. Chance has a good imagination but she very much needs some help polishing her writing skills.
